Mud therapy

Mud therapy

The thermal springs, and the curative mud derived from them, reach a temperature of 87°C at the Terme Euganee and are highly mineralised. In keeping with the tradition of all spa facilities in Abano, Hotel Vena d’oro has its own fango-balneotherapy department and a highly specialised team of operators, working under the supervision of the Health Director. Hotel Vena d’oro is part of the O.T.P. (Osservatorio Termale Permanente – Permanent Thermal Observatory) monitoring network of the University of Padua, to control the maturation process and quality of the thermal mud. A wide range of pathologies can be treated and prevented with appropriate mud-balneotherapy. We are talking in particular about osteoporosis (all the disorders listed do not have to be in an acute phase), rheumatism, fibrositis, myalgia, neuralgia and neuritis, and sciatica.

Then there is uricukaemia, gout, the after-effects of fractures, dislocations, sprains, traumatic injuries and orthopaedic operations, dysmetabolic and primary inflammatory rheumatism, as well as many respiratory diseases such as chronic catarrhs, asthma, sinusitis and chronic bronchitis.

MODE OF DELIVERING MUD THERAPY:

THE 4 MOMENTS OF THE SESSION

1. Application of thermal mud
After the compulsory medical examination for suitability and admission to the thermal treatment, entrusted to a specialist doctor, the mud is applied to the surface of the body’s joints according to the medical director’s instructions, at a temperature between 39-42° C, for about 15/20 minutes (30 minutes for partial applications).
Benefits: the warmth of the mud produces a beneficial vasodilatation on the components of the locomotor system. In addition, changes are generated at the cellular level, of the excretory function of the skin, especially with regard to uric acid, the elimination of which is increased, thus favouring a detoxifying action.

2. Bagno termale
After a shower with thermal water to remove the mud, the guest is immersed in a tub with thermal water at about 37° C with hydromassage and ozone therapy, for about 10 min.
Benefits: balneotherapy promotes circulation, muscle relaxation and induces an analgesic action and, given the chemical composition of the water, favours specific hormonal, biochemical and neurovegetative stimuli that complete the full recovery of well-being.

3. Sweat reaction
This is the time for resting and for the body’s reaction to the therapy, during which the tissues release the heat accumulated from the mud and thermal bath: after the thermal bath, one goes up to the room for the sweating reaction lasting about 30 to 60 minutes due to the increase in body temperature and blood vasodilation.

4. Therapeutic massage
Massage therapy: massages, the last phase of the daily spa treatment, are invigorating, therapeutic and relaxing.
Benefits: a short massage has a decontracting and toning effect, stimulates the skin and muscles and complements the spa therapy.

Prevention

PREVENTION MEANS TAKING CARE OF ONESELF. IT IS EASY TO BE WELL WHEN YOU ARE ALREADY WELL.

LIKE CORTISONE BUT 100% NATURAL AND WITHOUT SIDE EFFECTS.

A natural treasure that only the Euganean territory can boast, Thermal Mud possesses unique active ingredients such as MGDG, effective on inflammation of human articular cartilage. It is precisely the uniqueness and high therapeutic value of the active components of Thermal Mud that prompted us to protect it with a patent, such a precious gift that nature wanted to give to our land.

There are no contraindications to the application of mud at the site of metal joint prostheses or screw plates for osteosynthesis.
